By incorporating this practice — a way of eating that's common at home, but less so in public — into restaurants and pop-ups, the new generation of Filipino-American chefs in the United States is rekindling the kamayan night as a way of harkening back to their roots.

A full 5-course collaborative dinner experience by Ellie and Rex Macapinlac. Rex performs and explores themes with guests, while Ellie crafts plates that take inspiration from his prose. Ends with baon, a specially crafted box with a dessert to take home, zine and something to commemorate the collaboration.

This experience is a 19+ component dinner without plates or silverware, everything is placed directly on banana leaf and Ellie shows you how to eat with your hands. Starts with a zine to introduce the table's elements and ends with baon, a specially designed box meant to take leftovers with you.

While we often can accommodate dietary restrictions, due to the special nature of this event, this is not possible. Likely on the menu: pork, shellfish and fish, nightshades, soy and wheat, dairy

This experience is a 17+ component dinner without plates or silverware, everything is placed directly on banana leaf and Ellie shows you how to eat with your hands. The table itself becomes a visual and gustatory exploration of the Filipino American and Filipino experience of kamayan (PH: boodle fight). It ends with baon, a specially designed box meant to take leftovers with you.

While we often can accommodate dietary restrictions, due to the special nature of this event, this is not possible. Likely on the menu: pork, chicken, shellfish and fish, nightshades, soy and wheat, dairy.

If you are someone who is excited about having professional documentation of your experience, this is for you! We will be professionally photographing and filming the entire event and post-production, you'll have direct access to high quality photos.

Dudley Cafe

Dudley Cafe's vision is to create a community that fosters arts, music, and youth empowerment. We believe in investing back and supporting a thriving ecosystem in Roxbury. In addition to supplying our ingredients from local businesses, we are also passionate supporters of youth empowerment. Since opening, we have partnered with Madison Park Technical High School and continue to hire their students for baking and front of the house positions. It is our intention to create opportunities for dedicated students, as well as provide a space for organizations that aim to uplift the residents of Roxbury, MA.
